The title of brick is in white with a black back ground which doesn't follow the general convention of thriller films with the common blue title. the black and white title of brick stands out and looks very forceful which means the names has an impact on the audience.
Setting/Location:
The setting is revealed as a sewer with a man crouched over looking at a dead woman in shallow water. then switching to a school scene witch connects the previous location to it and leave many questions that the audience want to be answered.
Costumes/Props:
The man crouched over in the sewer is wearing glasses and is shown in a extreme close up which shows it could be a clue to later in the film. there is bangles around the dead girl in the sewer and the same bangles is framed in shot while a locker is being opened with the same arm and bangles
Genre:
Bricks genre is thriller and the opening sequence tells the audience this by showing them a dark, mysterious characters ,Erie music and a death,
Editing/Camera Work:
The editing was interesting when there was a close up shot of the dead girls arm with the bangles on and then cuts to the school scene with a close up of the same arm and bangles opening a locker. This editing placing these to shots together shows they have gone back in time which leaves a gap in the story that the audience wants filled which is a convention on a title sequence.
