A thriller has various elements and conventions mainly based around suspense, tension and excitement. A thriller is more sociological than the blatant violence and gore of a horror so them conventions is replaced through different types of suspension and tension in thrillers. dark lighting on scary roads is a common convention, lowkey lighting hides things like location and characters faces which is also a convention of a thriller.
