Genre:the dark lane with the person running into the darkness shows that this opening sequence is from a thriller film. With the houses in the distance and the girl running shows that the girl is running away from civilisation which adds fear because of the current situation in England with women getting abducted,rapped and murderd while there jogging and this title sequence plays on that.
Film Title:
This is a student film so it is not perfect because This title follows the conventions of a horror which makes it unclear to the true genre they are attempting to create.
Setting:
The woman starts on residential road which i suspect is near a country side because of the land rover in the background and she goes down what looks like a country lane. The residential road is a good start to the opening sequence and a good contrast to the dark room she is placed in after she was kidnapped.
Costumes / props:
The woman at the start is wearing headphones which shows she cant hear her surroundings which increases the fear that the makers of the title sequence is trying to build. The gloves and tools shows the intention that they plan to hurt the woman because them props are conventions of a character that does violent criminal activities.
Editing / camera work:
The shot were the car boot is open is a very creative shot and works well because is creates a low angle which displays the the men who kidnapped the woman as large which increases audience fear. the point of view shot of the man punching straight into the camera makes the audience feel that they are getting punched as well. The camera angle and editing follows the punch in the bottom two pictures above which is a very original peace of editing.
Titles / Font style:
The title and font size has room for improvment because they do not dominate the screen or stand out because they are small and not central.
